Visual Navigation
The app's visual navigation underwent a redesign to create a more impactful and enhanced user experience. Various layout options were explored, from text-only designs to combinations of graphic elements and editorial images. Ultimately, modules with full-width images with subtle rounded corners proved to be the most effective choice. This design ensured legibility and ease of navigation while seamlessly incorporating Saks' branding elements, resulting in a distinctive and easily recognizable identity. The existing visual navigation system faced a business challenge of low engagement, leading to brief interactions and limited page views. Customers found the text-only navigation counterintuitive, making the experience overwhelming and difficult for exploring new items or locating specific ones. To address these issues, the redesign incorporated editorial images representing each area of business, creating an intuitive visual navigation system that made product discovery easier. This approach improved conversion rates, as users could find and purchase desired items more quickly, thereby enhancing the overall user experience.
